I can tolerate lots of things that come with living in NYC. Noise, how the whole city smells like garbage during the month of August, traffic, flooded subways-really the list is endless. The one thing which I can no longer tolerate is A-Rod's inability to deliver for the Yankees and his piss poor excuses as to why the highest paid baseball player can't hit a home run or drive in an RBI to help his team win a game down the stretch. Every year its the same story in Yankee Land:
"This is going to A-Rod's year"
"Yankees are going to win the World Series with A-Rod this year"
"He's going to be a team player this year"
"There is no feud between him and Jeter"
I'm sick of hearing all of this bullshit about how he is the greatest to ever play the game. A-Rod is a great ball player, but honestly enough is enough. Yes, he hit more home runs and drove in more RB's before he was thirty than any player in MLB history. Yes, he is on track to surpass "Hammerin' " Hank Aaron on the all time home run list. But, what has he done while he has been a Yankee?
1. Alienated his teammates with his antics on and off the field.
2. Sent mixed messages to the media about his future in the Big Apple. Do you want to be here next year or not? Just answer the question.
3. Pouted about being moved in the batting rotation. Crybaby! The last time I checked baseball was a team sport and you play for the good of the team.
4. Played poorly down the stretch. I think he batted .119 for the month of September in 2006. I wonder if his average would improve if he were allowed to hit off of a tee.
5. Almost got his ass beat by Jason Varitek. I took Varitek hands down in that fisticuff. A-Rod is too much of a pretty boy to be taken seriously.
Baseball is a very simple game-you throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball, and sometimes it rains. The guys who play in Queens seem to grasp this concept. Why can't A-Rod?
*That little error he had today in the first inning was an impressive way to start the season. I wonder if those sassy blue socks he was sporting were maybe on a little too tight and hindered his ability to catch a pop up fly ball?
