Kids, I give you the hardest working trio to ever come out of Chicago: Urge Overkill. In the early 90s these guys were all over the city. Love them or hate them this band worked it. If you hung around with frat boys chances are you heard Urge Overkill.
I used to see these guys all the time at Double Door, Empty Bottle, Metro, and of course Lounge Ax. Nash Kato, Blackie Onassis, and "Eddie" King Roeser knew how to be rockstars. The producer/performer Steve Albini worked with a lot of Chicago bands in the early 90s. Urge Overkill was one of them. Smashing Pumpkins, Red Red Meat, The Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Peg Boy and Naked Raygun were all working bands in Chicago. Out of all these bands Urge is my favorite.
Their love of 70s rock bands like Thin Lizzy and Cheap Trick is what did it for me. Dressed head to toe in 70s duds and big gold medallions they rolled
into places and just blew the doors off. Heavy guitars, thunderous
drums, and Kato's great voice just made this band. This trio had so
much power and sound it was unreal. Give 'em a listen I think you will like them. Here from Saturation is "Sister Havana" and "Positive Bleeding".

*I always wanted to see Nash Kato and Billy "Pumpkin" Corrigan throw down. Nash would have kicked his ass.
