Josh Rouse is a singer songwriter from Nebraska who has a voice as sweet as Karen Carpenter. Growing up Rouse was obsessed with the Smiths and the Cure. He wrote his first song when he was 18. Eventually he moved to Nashville in the late 90s and worked with Kurt Wagner of the amazing country group Lambchop.
I first heard of Rouse from a fellow music junkie right after moving to Brooklyn. Under the Cold Blue Stars was recommended to me and it is great. Rouse writes beautiful pop songs. He is kind of a cross between Duncan Sheik and Ben Folds. I dig him. My whole point to this post is Rouse is playing a show April 27th at the Warsaw in Brooklyn. I am planning on attending and if any of you NYC dwellers would like to join me drop me a line and lets plan an outing.
Enjoy "Carolina" from Nashville and "It Looks Like Love" from Subtitulo.
