While reading ESPN.com I saw this. How did these papers just appear at an auction house in Burr Ridge? Where have they been for the last 80 years? Sitting in Cub fan's attic? Maybe sitting in some crazed Sox fan's house in mustache land (south side)? Questions, questions.
The Black Sox scandal of 1919 leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It's bad enough that my team threw the World Series, but to the Cincinnati Reds come on. Even though the Sox players were acquitted the league was not so forgiving. Eight Sox players were banned from baseball for life including Shoeless Joe Jackson. The Sox were an unhappy
team in 1919. The Sox had the best record in baseball, but played for a fucking miser. Charlie Comiskey will go down in history as one of the cheapest fucks to ever own a baseball team. I believe that if Comiskey had paid his players and treated them better, the Series would never have been thrown and my man Buck Weaver would be in the hall of fame.
