I know that most of my posts are fluff. Usually it's some band that I'm enamored with, a sporting event, or my disgust with Duke and Duke. But every once in a while I'll read something that I find so disturbing it forces me to bring my little blog into reality. I think Ann Coulter's use of the word "faggot" was the last time I really ranted.
Barack Obama announced the start of his “Embrace the Change” gospel tour. The tour, which will hit such cultural hot spots as South Carolina, will include gospel acts
Mary Mary, Hezekiah Walker, Bryon Cage and Donnie McClurkin. Really? Is he really gonna do this? Especially with this crew, namely this McClurkin fellow.
Donnie McClurkin is a real piece of work. He has vowed to fight his homosexual curse with prayer. Yeah that's right he's a recovering gay. Let me get this straight after Obama panders to HRC's gay forum to collect the queer vote he turns around joins forces with a self-repressed Jesus freak? I love politicians. McClurkin blames his homosexuality on being raped. He goes on to say that through the power of prayer he has worked through his dark periods. That it wasn't God's intention for him to be homosexual. Not only has God delivered him, but he can also deliver us (the gays) from a life of debauchery if we're willing to allow for religious intervention.
Reality check people Barack Obama likes to talk about the idea of "political hope", but in reality he would rather cut a deal with a repressed religious nut just so he can get a couple of votes. The votes he's soliciting are from people who hate gays just as much as they hate blacks. That's awesome. Obama is nothing more than a hypocrite. Political hope-my ass. I would rather have Rev. Fred Phelps hate me to my face than have Barack Obama hate me behind my back. At least Phelps is honest. Who knows maybe Obama's next move will be to line up a pack of
pedophile priests and tour the country talking about how the country needs
to look to a higher power during these troublesome times. Remember
faith can save us all.
As for being saved through the power of prayer. No thanks. I would rather spend the rest of my life in darkness than ever set one foot in a religious intervention group. I went through that already. It's called the Catholic Church. I don't need saving, save yourself you hypocrite. I'm here, I'm queer, deal with it and don't pander to me in hopes that I will vote for you. I won't.
*Just a little side note. I have no problem with religion and those who are religious. I just don't think that it should be used as a tool to wrangle votes. Now, back to our regular programming of sports, music, pets, and my hatred of Duke and Duke.
